A Short, Simple, and Easy-to-Understand Explanation of the Swiss Cheese Model

A Short, Simple, and Easy-to-Understand Explanation of the Swiss Cheese Model

🧀 A Story about Swiss Cheese and Safety.

Imagine many pieces of Swiss Cheese arranged in a row like a wall. The Swiss cheese has small holes.

Each piece of cheese is a layer of protection to keep us safe.

Various ways to protect ourselves:

* Wear a helmet 🪖
* Look left and right before crossing 🚸
* Wear a seatbelt 🚗

🤔 So what's the problem?

Every cheese has holes. This means that every protection is sometimes imperfect.

Incomplete protection can take the form of:

* Forgetting to look left and right
* Not wearing a helmet properly
* Someone else being careless

🚨 When do accidents happen?

If all the holes in the cheese were aligned (in a straight line), then danger could penetrate all layers, and an accident would occur. 😢

🌟 The important message is:

We must always:

* Be careful
* Follow the rules
* Remind ourselves and others

If we are always careful and follow the rules, the holes will not align, and we will remain safe and secure. 💛

🎯 Swiss cheese has holes. Every cheese is like a rule to keep us safe and secure. If we don't follow the rules, the holes can align, leading to danger, emergencies, incidents, and accidents. So, we must always be careful! 😊
