Effective Delegation

A Successful Leader can do Effective Delegation, which is to delegate work to members of the team. In any work environment, whether in the military that has high-pressure work or in a corporation that has normal pressure work, the act of delegating work to members of the team is a critical effort for operational success.

By delegating work to members of the team, the Leader builds the best things in the team:
- Ease: Heavy & difficult work can be done easily
- Safety: Dangerous & high-risk work can be done safely
- Trust: Team members who are given tasks feel trusted by their leader
- Appreciation: Team members who are given tasks feel appreciated by their leader
- Multiply Strength: 1 member only has 1 strength, 1 team has several strengths
- Readiness: Team members become more ready to do various jobs according to their abilities

The act of delegating work to members of the team also educates the Leader to:
- Trust the team
- Be responsible for all the decisions
- Support the team by providing various things needed

Confined Space Regulation

Confined Space Regulation in several countries regulates several things as follows:

- Companies that have Confined Space must provide training to workers & Rescue Teams working in Confined Space
- Workers & Rescue Teams working in Confined Space must have knowledge of the definition & conditions of Confined Space & possible hazards & emergencies & types of work that are safe to do
- Confined Space is a small space
- Confined Space is dangerous space
- Confined Space is not designed to be occupied continuously
- Some places defined as Confined Spaces are: Tanks, sewers, storage areas, tunnels, holes & others
- Confined Space must have a permit
- Workers must have a Permit To Work when entering & working in Confined Space
- Safety Procedures must be enforced in Confined Space
- Workers & Rescue Teams must have an understanding of the Safety Procedures for working in Confined Space
- Rescue Teams must be in Confined Space to monitor workers & prevent & handle emergencies
- PPE & Rescue Equipment must be provided when work is carried out in Confined Space
- Before work begins, there must be a certainty that the Confined Space is in a safe condition: Good ventilation & safe access & absence of hazardous atmospheres (gases, vapors & toxic substances)
- If an emergency occurs, Safety Procedures must be carried out by the Rescue Team

The bottom line is: Safety in the Confined Space comes first!

Fast Rescue Craft

Fast Rescue Craft (FRC) is a special high-speed vessel used for Emergency Response & Rescue Operations.

Regulations in the Energy, Oil & Gas Industries have emphasized that FRC must be provided to carry out the Rescue Procedures when an emergency occurs.

The FRC is smaller, agile & able to reach various areas quickly.

Here are some situations where FRC is needed:
- Emergencies that occur at sea: Damaged or lost ships & people falling from ships into the sea
- Natural disasters: Floods & strong winds
- Fires & explosions, especially fires & explosions that occur at Offshore Oil & Gas Installations/Platforms
- Medical emergencies: Sick or injured workers who need to be taken to medical care

When an emergency occurs, FRC is used to:
- Search for ships & victims
- Handle emergencies on ships, rivers, seas & offshore
- Bring Safety Equipment
- Handle difficult conditions using Safety Equipment
- Carry out evacuations
- Find, take & rescue victims to a safe place
- Extinguish the fire
- Save life

Things that must be done so that the FRC can always be used:
- Maintain the engine on the FRC regularly
- Ensure that the FRC can move quickly & smoothly
- Ensure that PPE, equipment & emergency equipment are always available on the FRC
- A Coxswain & the crews are always ready to use FRC & handle emergency

The FRC Coxswain & crews must have the skills to:
- Preparate FRC
- Launch FRC
- Maneuver FRC

Stuck Pipe In Drilling

Stuck Pipe in drilling refers to a situation where the drill string cannot be moved up, down, or rotated in the wellbore. This can disrupt drilling operations & cause increased costs & time delays.

There are two types of stuck pipe:
- Differential Pressure Stuck: This occurs when the drill string is held against the wellbore wall by differential pressure. This often occurs in permeable formations where the pressure in the annulus exceeds the pressure in the formation.
- Mechanical Stuck: This can be caused by various factors such as inadequate drill cuttings removal, borehole instability, key placement, or the presence of plastic

A Stuck Pipe can be prevented by doing a few things:
- Monitor drilling parameters carefully
- Maintain proper hole cleanliness
- Use the right drilling fluid
- Manage friction properly
- Stabilize the wellbore
