Lifeboat When Operating Offshore

We need a Lifeboat when operating Offshore because:
- Lifeboat is one of the most important pieces of equipment to ensure the safety of personnel working on Offshore Platforms and Vessels when an emergency occurs
- Applicable regulations and industry standards already require Offshore Facilities to have Lifeboats and trained personnel to use them
- There are Safety Guidelines that must be obeyed

Emergencies that can occur Offshore are:
- Broken equipment
- Fire
- Explosion
- Bad weather

When an emergency occurs, Lifeboats are used to evacuate personnel on board. The Lifeboat has been properly designed so that:
- It can be deployed and launched quickly and safely
- It can travel long distances quickly and safely
- It can reach the location quickly and safely

Therefore, Lifeboat also means:
- Speed and Security
- Key Components of Offshore Safety Protocols

First Aid Is Important

First Aid is the most important thing to know and do because First Aid can help to:
- Prevent injury
- Prevent further disability
- Save someone's life

Not all accidents, injuries, illnesses, and emergencies require a trip to the hospital and emergency room, as some pain and discomfort can still be managed with the right First Aid.

Some general steps of First Aid that can be done are:
- Before giving First Aid: Making sure the scene is safe for you and the victim who is injured or sick
- If the victim is unconscious, not breathing, or is bleeding heavily: Calling emergency medical services immediately
- Checking for breathing, injury, or disease in the victim
- If the victim is injured: Controlling the bleeding and cleaning the wound
- If the victim is having difficulty breathing: Helping them to sit down and giving oxygen if available
- If the victim is in pain: Trying to comfort them by helping them lie down or providing supportive care
- Monitoring the victim's condition and being ready to provide additional First Aid as needed until professional medical assistance arrives

Taking the right First Aid Training is necessary because:
- You will have the knowledge and skills to handle accidents and emergencies
- You will be ready to help in case of an emergency
- You can provide better care for yourself and others
- You can deal with injuries and illnesses

Ways To Rescue Workers In Confined Space

Rescuing workers experiencing an emergency in a Confined Space is a challenging, potentially dangerous task and requires careful planning and preparation. Actions to save workers in Confined Spaces can only be carried out by properly trained personnel and teams. Actions to save a person from a Confined Space must not be performed by personnel who are not trained and have no experience in rescue.

Several steps can be taken by Safety Officers, Emergency Response Teams and employers to save workers in Confined Spaces:
- The owner of the company must have an Emergency Response Plan which describes the procedures for rescuing workers in Confined Spaces. This plan should contain procedures for calling Rescue Team, identifying Confined Space emergencies, and providing rescue and First Aid
- Workers working in Confined Spaces must take training related to Confined Spaces: how to handle emergencies and use emergency equipment (PPE, Respiratory Equipment, ropes, and others)
- The owner of the company must call the party who can provide Rescue and Emergency Services quickly in the event of an emergency. The company owner has to appoint specific personnel and team to perform this task.
- Before entering the Confined Space, the Rescue Team must first conduct a rescue assessment to determine the safest and most effective action to save workers in an emergency
- Some type of Rescue Equipment must be used to remove workers from the Confined Space
- The Rescue Team – both leaders and members – must coordinate with each other to ensure that they are aware of the safety measures to take
