Safety: Incident Management

Incidents that occur in a company are events that disrupt operations & work, injure employees & harm the company.

Incident Management is a process to:
- Identify potential incidents & incidents
- Handle incidents
- Minimize impact & losses
- Return to normalcy as quickly as possible
- Prevent incidents from recurring

Incident Management is useful for:
- Protecting employees, operations & the company
- Avoiding & reducing disruption, losses & downtime
- Maintaining trust from clients, employees, partners & the public

Important actions to take when an incident occurs:
- Incidents must be handled immediately
- Information about the incident must be reported immediately to the right party: the Rescue Team, Management
- Rescue the victim immediately
- All damages that occur in the incident must be repaired immediately
- Everything that happens in the incident must be recorded, documented & categorized based on urgency & impact
- The responsible team must investigate the root cause of the incident

The best actions that can be taken by the company & its management are:
- Ensuring that the Emergency Response Team & Rescue Team are always ready to handle incidents
- Detecting & preventing potential incidents & incidents from the beginning before they occur & escalate
