- Look for a place to self-protect: Protect from the sun, rain, wind
- When there's nowhere to self-protect: Build a place to self-protect by using rafts, buoys, logs, and more
- Do not drink seawater, because seawater will dehydrate and damage the health
- Get fresh water to drink
- When no fresh water is available: Collect rainwater and try to remove salt from seawater using a simple technique
- Save energy: Reduce activity and avoid unnecessary movement
- Shows signs for help that may attract attention from other vessels: Uses whistles, flares, SOS Signals, and more
- Maintain a calm and positive attitude so that Mental and Emotional Health is well maintained
- Believe that Survival will be carried out soon

Surviving at sea does require proper planning, preparation, and thinking so that life-threatening situations can be avoided and dealt with.
