If you work as an Incident Controller (IC) or a member of the Incident Management Team (IMT), you need to have the knowledge about:
- Duties and responsibilities of the IC and IMT
- Management of Major Emergencies
- Principles of the Incident Command System (ICS)
- Strategy, tactics, command and control, communications, and coordination elements
- Information Management
- Different levels of incidents
- State of readiness
- Emergency Command Centre Facilities
- Plan during the Activation Phase (when the emergency alarm has been raised), through to the Deactivation Phase / Stand Down in several specific types of emergency scenarios
You also need the skills to:
- Respond to an incident and emergency
- Communicate with internal and external agencies
- Assess the situation and take effective action
- Delegate the authority to act
- Manage individual and team performance
