Some important steps are taken when using a Rescue Craft for Rescue Operations to ensure the safety of the Rescue Team & victims (those being rescued):
- Assess the situation to determine the best action to carry out the Rescue Operation
- Consider important factors for carrying out the Rescue Process: Environment, victim conditions, dangers, risks & others
- Check & prepare the Rescue Craft in good condition
- Equip the Rescue Craft with the necessary Rescue Equipment: Lifebuoys, ropes, First Aid Equipment & others
- Use the Rescue Craft to approach the victim carefully
- Help the victim to get into the Rescue Craft safely by using PPE, lifebuoys & ropes
- If needed, provide First Aid to the victim when the victim is already in the Rescue Craft
- Maintain a stable situation in the Rescue Craft when transporting victims by avoiding dangers at sea & avoiding sudden movements that can endanger the victim & Rescue Team
- Communicate with the victim & other Rescue Teams to ensure safety & good situation & condition
- Direct the Rescue Craft to a safer place
- If necessary, when the Rescue Craft has arrived at a safer place, provide further Medical Treatment to the victim & ensure the victim is safe until additional assistance arrives
- Transfer the victim to the Beach or another Rescue Boat
