Fire And Fire In Office

Fire

Safety Guidelines and Emergency Procedures to prevent fires are the most important things for everyone to do. Everyone should know what to do if a fire occurs. Why?

Because fire is the most dangerous thing!

- Fire produces heat which can cause burns and injury. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can cause heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
- Fires produce smoke and toxic gases such as carbon monoxide and cyanide which can cause suffocation and poisoning
- Fire can cause serious damage to property, buildings, and possessions. This can weaken the structure and cause collapse.
- Fires, especially forest fires, can significantly impact the environment. They can destroy habitats, cause air pollution, and contribute to climate change.
- Certain materials may explode if exposed to fire, causing injury and increasing the spread of fire
- Psychological impacts will occur on people who witness and those affected by the fire. The victims will feel anxious, stressed, and traumatized.

Knowledge about fire we should know:
- Fire Science and Theory
- Tactics to extinguish fire
- Ways to use equipment: PPE, SCBA, hose, foam, water, and more
- Ways to handle injuries and trauma

Some ways to deal with fires are:
- Having smoke detectors, alarms, and fire extinguishers
- Knowing the evacuation routes
- Using Fire Protection to protect the building

Fire In Office

Fire in the office can have a negative impact on a company. In addition to the potential for death and property loss, employees will lose their jobs, lose essential services, and more.

Important actions to protect the office from fire:
- Ensure that cables, electricity, machines, and equipment are not damaged
- Keep all items that can burn away from electricity
- Don't leave any hot devices unattended
- Place Safety Procedures in every room in the building
- Ensure the alarm works properly
- Ensure Fire Extinguishers can be used
- Provide training to employees to save themselves, extinguish fires, and carry out the Evacuation Process

Things to do if a fire occurs at the office:
- When a fire occurs, usually an alarm will sound. If the alarm does not sound, activate the alarm to provide information to everyone in the building that a fire is occurring.
- Self-save from danger by carrying out the Evacuation Process: Immediately leave the office via the nearest exit. Use the stairs, don't use the elevator!
- At the outside the building, count the number of employees and ensure that everyone is outside
- Contact Emergency Services and Fire Team
- Do not re-enter the building until the Fire Team has finished extinguishing the fire and given permission for everyone to re-enter the building

Therefore, all employees and management in the company must have knowledge of the Safety Procedures which contain:
- Actions that must be taken to self-save when a fire occurs
- Evacuation Process, Evacuation Routes, Assembly Points, and others

Advanced Fire Fighting

A fire is considered an Advanced Fire if the fire has occurred and has fully developed. Advanced Fire usually occurs in 4 stages:
- The Initial Stage occurs when the fire is just starting. The fire is located under the ceiling and roof or where the fire occurs.
- The Growth Stage occurs when the fire is not quickly controlled. The fire can grow and start moving to other places.
- The Full Enlargement Stage occurs when the fire has reached its maximum size and has covered all areas
- The Reduction Stage occurs when the Advanced Fire Team has succeeded in extinguishing a large fire, the flames have reduced and the temperature has returned to normal

Warning: Fires can always develop very quickly! Fires can become serious in seconds!

The most important thing that must be done immediately if an Advanced Fire occurs:
- Carry out the Evacuation Process
- Contact the Advanced Fire Team and Emergency Services

Some equipment needed on Advanced Fire:
- Advanced Fire Alarm Technology is the sophisticated technology created to detect fire in buildings and sound a fire alarm
- An Advanced Fire Protection System usually consists of an Integrated Fire Prevention System, Smoke Detector, Fire Alarm, and Fire Extinguisher

When an Advanced Fire occurs, an Advanced Fire Team trained to handle fires at all stages is really needed! This team always has the skills and equipment to control and extinguish any fire, including Advanced Fire.

Advanced Fire Fighting is the special training that equips Fire Fighting Teams with the knowledge and skills to handle any fire at any stage safely and effectively.

This training covers 2 teaching areas:

* The Theory:
It will equip participants with knowledge and understanding of fire (Fire Science and Theory), Fire Suppression Equipment, Extinguishing Equipment, fire fighting techniques done by team members and leader, fire prevention, ways to extinguish fire, and ways to handle victims (injuries, trauma and more)

* The Practice:
It will be done to extinguish Class A, B and C Fires using PPE, SCBA, hose, foam, water, portable and twin agent

Role Of HDA And Emergency On Helideck

Role Of HDA

Helideck Assistants (HDA) are personnel who work closely with the Helideck Landing Officer (HLO) to achieve the Safety Target at Helideck. HDA is also part of the Helideck Emergency Response Team.

Some responsibilities that must be carried out by HDA:
- Ensure safe and smooth operation of the Helideck and Helicopter
- Ensure safety and efficiency on the Helideck: Before, during, and after the operation
- Ensure that Helicopters can safely land and take off at Offshore Facilities (oil rigs, ships, etc.) or even land-based Heliports
- Assist and support HLO in various routine operations on the Helideck
- Maintain and test equipment
- Ensure safe embarkation and disembarkation of passengers boarding and disembarking from Helicopters
- Handle the transfer of goods and baggage to and from the Helicopter
- Handle emergencies on the Helicopter and Helideck

If an emergency occurs on the Helicopter and Helideck, HDA will take several actions:
- Provide information to responsible parties to help respond to emergencies: Emergency Response Team, Rescue Team, and HLO
- Remain calm and follow directions and instructions from the Emergency Response Team, Rescue Team, and HLO
- Prioritize the safety of all personnel and crew on the Helicopter and Helideck

- Provide medical assistance
- Check and report the state and condition of the Helicopter, Helideck, and people, especially in the event of injury or death

Emergency On Helideck

The Helideck is a special area that has special equipment, so not everyone can enter the Helideck. Only those who have been trained may enter the Helideck. Therefore, not everyone can extinguish fires that occur on the Helideck.

If a fire or emergency occurs on the Helideck, several things that must be done are:
- Prioritizing self-safety
- Calling the teams that can help: Emergency Response Team, Rescue Team, HLO and HDA
- Using Communication Equipment to notify the Emergency Response Team, Rescue Team, HLO, and HDA of the location where the fire or emergency occurs
- Complying with and carrying out instructions given by the Emergency Response Team, Rescue Team, HLO and HDA
- Top priority: Immediately carrying out the Evacuation Process safely
- Using predetermined escape routes
- Self-protecting from smoke
- Self-protecting in a safe place, including behind a fireproof place

Helidecks usually have their fire extinguishers and trained Emergency Response Team, Rescue Team, HLO, and HDA who have knowledge of:
- Emergency Response Plan and Process
- Ways to extinguish fires properly

Stuck Pipe In The Oil And Gas Industry

In the Oil and Gas Industry, stuck pipe refers to a situation where the drill string cannot move downhole. This means the pipe cannot be moved up, down, or even rotated. This is a nuisance for drillers because it stops drilling operations until the pipe is freed.

Some common causes of stuck pipes:
- Pressure difference between the wellbore and the formation
- Mechanical problems
- Formation characteristics: Soil disturbance

Specifically, stuck pipes in Oil and Gas Drilling can be caused by two main areas – mechanical sticking and differential sticking:

* Mechanical Sticking:
- This occurs when the drill pipe damages the wellbore wall, causing a groove or indentation. Pipes can then get stuck in these grooves.
- Holes that are not cleaned cause drill cuttings to accumulate around the drill string
- Certain formations, especially shale, can absorb air from the drilling fluid and swell, pinching the drill pipe
- If the wellbore wall weakens and collapses, the drill string can become trapped
- Soft formations such as salt can damage and stress the drill pipe
- Large pieces of formation or debris can bridge the gap between the drill pipe and the wellbore wall, effectively wedging the pipe in place

* Differential Sticking:
- When the pressure in the drill pipe is lower than the pressure in the formation, the formation can press on the pipe with such force that it gets stuck
- Heavier mud provides higher hydrostatic pressure, thereby increasing the risk of differential sticking
- Drilling through a depleted formation with very low pore pressure will create a larger pressure difference, resulting in the possibility of sticking
- Differential stickiness is more likely to occur when the drill string does not move for a long time, allowing the filter cake to fully expand. Thicker filter cake provides a larger contact area for working pressure, thereby increasing adhesion.

Various negative things that happen due to stuck pipes:
- Cost loss: Stuck pipe is a serious problem that can cost the Oil and Gas Industry millions of dollars each year
- Loss of time: Because the effort to free the pipe after a stuck pipe is very complicated and difficult, production time is lost in vain
- Total loss: Due to the severity of the stuck pipe, what often happens is that the well has to be abandoned completely without producing anything

Some ways to prevent stuck pipes and minimize the possibility of suck pipes:
- Monitor the condition of the wellbore carefully
- Use drilling fluids designed to stabilize the wellbore
- Maintain the well hole by cleaning it in the right way
- Use an appropriate mud weight that balances wellbore stability by minimizing pressure differences
- Choose a drill pipe that suits the formation being drilled
- Keep the drill string moving during operation helps prevent the formation of filter cake
- Monitor the wellbore pressure that can help to identify situations where differential sticking may pose a risk

By having knowledge about the stuck pipe, drilling crews can:
- Take action to prevent it
- Avoid detrimental problems
- Ensure smooth well operations

Permit To Work

Regulations in all countries require all companies and their workers to create and have a Permit To Work (PTW). Specifically, PTW is a formal document used in various industries whose operations are potentially dangerous.

The reasons why workers need PTW:

- Their safety is always maintained
- Accidents and injuries can be prevented from occurring
- Any work, especially high-risk work, can be done safely
- Hazards and risks can be identified and controlled before work begins

PTW is a written permit that specifies:

- High-risk work and safe work
- The safe work that is allowed to be carried out
- Day and time to do the work
- Qualifications of workers permitted to do the work. These workers must have taken the appropriate training and knowledge to perform their duties safely.
- Safety procedures that must be followed
- Dangers and risks
- Safety checks that should be done before the work starts
- Ways to identify and control hazards
- Safety measures that must be taken so that the work can be carried out safely
- Safety and control measures that must be taken so that accidents can be avoided and handled
- Communication and instructions that must be carried out by everyone involved in the work: Workers, Supervisors and others
- Supervision must be exercised to ensure that only authorized personnel are involved and that all necessary precautions are taken

When the workers sign the PTW, they show that they understand the risks involved and what precautions are necessary.

Several things that happen if workers do not have PTW:

- Accidents and injuries will definitely happen
- Legal Issues: Work will be stopped by the authorities and the authorities will issue a fine to the company
- Employment Relation Issues: The company can give warnings to the workers, and can even terminate employment
- Financial Issues: If accidents and injuries occur, the insurance process will become difficult to carry out

The essence of PTW is Protection for all parties, both companies and workers!

Introduction To The Drilling Process In The Oil And Gas Industry

This explanation is a simple description of the drilling process in the Oil and Gas Industry. The drilling process is a complex and exciting field that combines many techniques, geology, and technology. Get interesting information about the drilling process in the Oil and Gas Industry through the explanation below.

* Basic information:

- The drilling process in the Oil and Gas Industry is an important process for extracting valuable resources from underground
- The drilling process essentially creates narrow vertical holes in the earth's crust to reach oil and gas reserves
- The drilling process is achieved using large drilling rigs, which are essentially self-contained drilling machines
- Oil and Gas companies usually hire special drilling contractors to perform this task

* Understanding of different drilling environments:

The drilling process can be carried out both on land and sea / offshore. The offshore drilling process requires special rigs designed to operate on platforms or ships.

* Drilling Process:

- Preparation: Careful planning is paramount. Geologists determine promising locations and engineers design wells based on expected underground conditions. Then the drilling location is prepared which includes the construction of an access road and a disposal hole for waste material.
- Setting Up the Rig: A drilling rig is a complex machine with a towering crane, a pulling machine for the lifting equipment, and a turntable that rotates the drill string. The drill string is a series of long hollow pipes that connect the surface to the drill bit at the bottom.
- Drilling: A drill bit attached to the end of the drill string crushes the rock as the turntable rotates it. Special mud is continuously pumped down the drill string and back to the surface, carrying rock chips and cooling the drill bit. This mud also helps stabilize the wellbore and prevents underground fluids from entering the well.
- Reaching the Target Zone: Drilling continues until the target depth is reached, where oil and gas are thought to be present. Throughout this process, various measurements and tests are performed to monitor conditions and ensure safety.
- Completing the Well: Once the target zone is reached, the well is "completed" by installing a casing (steel pipe) to stabilize the wellbore and isolate different formations. Finally, production equipment is installed to bring the oil and gas to the surface.

High Pressure High Temperature In Drilling Operation

High Pressure, High Temperature (HPHT) is a big challenge in Drilling Operations, especially when exploring oil and gas reserves. These extreme conditions occur when the well reaches greater depths, pushing the capabilities of conventional drilling equipment and techniques.

Here are the challenges and how to overcome them:

* Challenge:
- Increased pressure: High formation pressure can cause an explosion, where well fluid escapes uncontrollably, posing a safety hazard
- Wellbore integrity: Pressure can fracture the rock formation around the wellbore, thereby compromising its stability
- Material strength: Drill pipes, casings, and other equipment experience increased stress, requiring special materials with higher strength levels
- Drilling fluid performance: Standard drilling fluids can decompose at high temperatures, reducing their ability to cool the drill bit, lubricate the drill string, and transport cuttings to the surface

* Ways to overcome the challenges:
- Special equipment: HPHT Operations require a rig with a High-Pressure Blowout Preventer (BOP) and a well-control system designed to handle extreme pressures
- Casing design: The well casing must be thicker and made of stronger materials to withstand pressure and prevent collapse
- Advanced drilling fluids: Synthetic-based muds and other HPHT drilling fluids are formulated to maintain their properties at high temperatures, ensuring wellbore stability and efficient drilling
- Wellbore pressure management: Close monitoring and management of pore pressure (fluid pressure in rock formations) is essential to avoid blowouts and maintain a safe drilling window

HPHT Wells are technically complex and expensive to drill. However, advances in technology and exploration strategies are enabling access to oil and gas reserves in increasingly challenging environments.

Emergency In Helicopter At Sea

Some dangerous emergencies that occur in the helicopters at sea:
- Helicopter crashing into the sea: This can be caused by broken machines, errors made by the pilot, or bad weather conditions. The helicopters will definitely sink because helicopters are not designed to float.
- Hypothermia which occurs when helicopter passengers and crew drown in the water as a result of the helicopter falling into the water
- A medical emergency that occurs when a helicopter passenger or crew experiences a critical condition due to an accident or health problems

To escape from the helicopter when an emergency happens, we need the knowledge about:
- Check-in/boarding procedures
- Helicopter Safety Requirements
- Safety Equipment
- Helicopter Emergency
- Hazards during emergencies
- Pre-ditching checks / Actions after ditching
- Surface and Underwater Escape
- Sea Survival Techniques

Some ways to increase our chances of surviving from an emergency that occurs in a helicopter at sea:

* Before flight:

- Safety Procedures In Helicopters: All persons in the helicopters must be provided with information regarding Safety Procedures in helicopters and they must comply with them
- Use proper PPE: Life jackets, SCBA / EBS and others

* When an emergency occurs:

- Be in a calm condition because panic can interfere with our abilities to save ourselves. Take proper breaths and focus on our hearing and mind to listen and obey the instructions given by the Rescue Team.
- Ensure that the right PPEs are used
- Be ready to face the impact by conducting the position determined by the Safety Procedures
- Escape from the helicopter through the emergency exit
- Hold onto a floating stable object for protection and increase the chance of being seen by other ships, helicopters, and Rescue Teams
- Gather together and create groups to save energy in the body and be seen by the Rescue Team

Plug And Abandonment In The Oil And Gas Industry

In the Oil and Gas Industry, Plug and Abandonment (P&A) refers to the process of permanently closing a well that is no longer economically productive or the process of closing a well for safety reasons. P&A is the most important practice in the Oil and Gas Industry to ensure environmental protection and safety. Along with industry efforts to reduce environmental impacts, P&A has become the most important process that must be carried out in the Oil and Gas Industry.

The following is an explanation of P&A:

- Reason: There are 2 main reasons why P&A is done. First, to isolate the wellbore and prevent hydrocarbons or fluids from migrating upwards and contaminating freshwater sources or other formations. Second, to ensure that the well is safe and does not pose dangers or threats to safety.

- Regulation: Successful P&A Operations do not depend solely on technical efficacy, but are also impacted by local legislative requirements and industry standards. Regulatory Agencies require operators to submit a detailed P&A Plan for approval before undertaking P&A.

- Process: P&A involves placing plugs made of cement or other materials strategically placed along the wellbore. This process isolates the various zones and permanently seals the well.

- Operation: The success of a P&A Operation relies on the placement, management, and verification of several permanent barriers. The other success of a P&A Operation relies also on communication between teams. The P&A Operation is managed and executed by a multidisciplinary team consisting of Asset Managers, Well Engineers, Completion Engineers, Logistics Technicians, and other functions. Managing communications between these disciplines and recognizing the human elements of the decision-making process will ensure that this important part of the process is executed effectively.

- Historical Context: P&A has not always been a top priority, but as the environmental and safety risks of improperly abandoned wells have become clearer, regulations have been put in place to ensure proper shut-in procedures are followed.

- Challenges: P&A can be a complicated and expensive process, especially for older wells drilled before stricter regulations were implemented. There may also be difficulties in managing the large number of wells that will eventually need to be subjected to P&A, especially in mature oil and gas fields.

Technology And Equipment Used In Oil And Gas Well Drilling

The developments that occur in the oil and gas industry are also supported by developments in technology and equipment that are always innovative, new, and updated. The following is the technology and equipment used in oil and gas well drilling which is becoming more sophisticated from year to year:

* Drilling Rigs:

- Derrick: The tall tower at a drilling site that provides a structure to raise and lower the drill pipe, casing, and other tools
- Top Drive: The system that rotates the drill pipe from the top of the derrick, rather than from the bottom. This allows for more precise control of the drilling process.
- Mud Pump: This pump circulates drilling fluid (or mud) down the drill pipe and out of the drill bit. The mud helps to cool and lubricate the bit, carry cuttings to the surface, and maintain pressure in the wellbore.
- Blowout Preventer (BOP): The safety device that is designed to prevent uncontrolled releases of oil and gas from the wellbore. There are several BOPs stacked on top of each other, and they can be closed to seal off the wellbore in the event of a blowout.

* Drilling Technologies:

- Rotary Drilling: This is the most common type of drilling, where a bit is rotated to break up the rock
- Directional Drilling: This type of drilling allows the wellbore to deviate from vertical, which can be necessary to reach oil and gas reserves that are not directly below the drilling rig
- Horizontal Extended Reach Drilling (HERD): This is a type of directional drilling that allows wells to be drilled over long distances horizontally. This can be used to reach reserves that are far from the drilling rig or to drill under environmentally sensitive areas.
- Logging While Drilling (LWD): This technology allows real-time data to be collected about the formation being drilled through. This data can be used to help steer the wellbore, identify potential problems, and evaluate the potential productivity of the well.

Drones Can Help The Delivery Process In Your Company

One of the challenges faced by companies and the business world is the "Delivery Process". The delivery process in companies is usually carried out in different divisions which requires more workers and more costs. Nowadays, the delivery process can be simplified by using Drones. By using Drones, the company doesn't have to spend more money and does not have to hire more workers.

One of the smartest advances that Drones currently have is their ability to deliver goods quickly and efficiently, without having to be bothered by traffic jams. The Drones can carry goods weighing 30 kg as far as 16 km.

By using Drones, goods can be taken to places that are difficult for vehicles and humans to reach, such as telecommunication towers, electricity substations, mountains, and more.

In the delivery process, Drones are being used to:
- Carry essential equipment, spare parts, building materials, repair equipment, medical supplies, food, and more
- Deliver confidential and sensitive documents safely and under supervision
- Carry heavy equipment that is difficult to transport by ordinary vehicles
- Carry goods from docks and ships to Offshore Oil and Gas Platforms

The current special feature of Drones is: Drones do not need to land when the goods are taken by the recipients.

Do you still doubt the ability of Drones to help you and make your work easier? Eliminate your doubts! Use Drones when you can!

Fire In Confined Spaces And Ways To Enter Safely

Fire in Confined Spaces is very dangerous!

- Fire can spread in Confined Spaces very quickly
- Fire can burn down Confined Spaces quickly because construction materials in Confined Spaces are flammable
- Fire can grow out of control in a matter of seconds and not give workers in a Confined Space enough time to get away from it and escape
- Fire can block escape routes so workers cannot escape from Confined Spaces
- Fire produces intense heat and can cause severe burns to workers in Confined Spaces and result in death
- Fire can damage all materials in the Confined Space and collapse the Confined Space
- Fire causes toxic smoke to emerge which can irritate the lungs, make breathing difficult, and cause death to workers in Confined Spaces
- Fire contains toxic gases, such as carbon monoxide, which can attack workers in Confined Spaces and cause unconsciousness and death
- Fire can make it difficult to see, so workers in Confined Spaces cannot see and cannot find a way to escape from the Confined Space
- The direction of the fire in a Confined Space can change quickly
- All materials in the Confined Spaces can explode if exposed to fire

By understanding the dangers of fire in Confined Spaces, all workers working in Confined Spaces must take appropriate steps to prevent fires from occurring!

Ways To Enter Confined Spaces Safely

Entering Confined Spaces is a very risky action and should only be carried out by workers who have been trained and adhere to Safety Procedures. Several steps must be taken so that the process of entering the Confined Space can be carried out safely:

* Before entering:
- Have a Permit To Work
- Know and identify potential dangers and risks that will be faced: Lack of oxygen, toxic fumes, flammable materials, and others
- Isolate Confined Spaces by turning off all machines, clearing ducts, and turning off power to prevent accidental start-up
- Ensure good ventilation to remove harmful substances and bring oxygen levels to safe limits
- Test the atmosphere using special equipment to determine oxygen levels, flammable materials, and toxins
- Wear appropriate PPE based on identified hazards: Safety ropes, fire-resistant clothing, and others
- Establish Emergency Plans and Rescue Procedures
- Assign competent Supervisors and Safety Officers to monitor the entry of people from outside

* Process to enter:
- The entry process should not be done alone!
- The entry process may only be carried out if all tests show safe conditions, there are Supervisors and Safety Officers monitoring from outside and communication can be carried out well. This means that workers are given the right to refuse entry if conditions are unsafe.
- All workers and officers carry out established Safety Procedures
- All personnel must maintain continuous communication with all officers outside
- The Rescue Team must be ready to deal with emergencies in Confined Spaces

Yes, working in Confined Spaces is a dangerous job! Please be careful! You have to know what you are doing in Confined Spaces!

The Dangers In Oil And Gas Industry

When we work at Oil and Gas Industry, we will find some dangers as follows:
- The danger at Offshore Oil and Gas Installation
- The danger of gas in Confined Space
- The danger of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S)
- The danger at the sea

Here are some explanations about the dangers and ways to handle them.

The Danger At Offshore Oil And Gas Installation

Offshore Oil and Gas Installations are dangerous environments and areas. When we work on Offshore Oil and Gas Installations, we must be aware of specific dangers that challenge our safety:
- Leaks that occur in the rig due to damage to the equipment
- Damages to equipment
- Explosions that occur when high-pressure oil and gas come out uncontrollably from a well
- Fires that occur due to flammable rigs and engines that suddenly start without control
- Collapses that occur due to excessive loads, corrosions, and bad weather conditions
- Accidents that occur due to environmental conditions at offshore installations that are unpredictable and vulnerable to adverse weather conditions, including wind, waves, etc
- Accidents that occur because helicopters always pass over offshore rigs and land on offshore rigs to monitor the rig and transport workers, goods, and others

Workers on offshore rigs can also experience injuries, muscle disorders, and death due to:
- Exposure to dangerous chemicals, including acids, gases, and others
- Objects, tools, equipment, and materials that fall and hit them
- Too heavy objects that are lifted by the workers
- Noise and vibration
- Extreme temperatures and disasters
- Slipperiness due to water and oil which causes workers to slip and fall
- Other dangers, such as pirate attacks, war, and others

The Danger Of Gas At Confined Space

When we work in Confined Spaces at Oil and Gas Industry, remember that:
- There are always gases in Confined Spaces, including the presence of carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulfide
- All gases, including poisonous gases, are one of the most dangerous things in Confined Spaces
- Gas always causes explosions, fires, and death

The above dangers occur because of:
- Lack of oxygen in Confined Spaces, so it is easy for gas to enter the body
- Lack of ventilation which can cause difficulty in reducing gas

Warning!
- Not all gas has a strong odor. One of the poisonous gases that is odorless and colorless is carbon monoxide. So don't rely on our sense of smell to detect the presence of gas!
- Confined Spaces are narrow and small spaces, so workers have difficulty calling for help and saving themselves when the gas attacks them!
- Dangers that occur in Confined Spaces can occur in a few seconds and cause death!

The Danger Of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S)

Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) is a gas that appears when various operations are carried out in the Oil and Gas Industry. Several things about H2S that we must know:
- H2S is a by-product produced by all industries, including oil and gas
- H2S is a poisonous, dangerous, flammable, and explosive gas
- H2S can prevent the body from using oxygen
- H2S can harm health: Disturbs cells, blood circulation, and others
- H2S can cause fire
- H2S can increase fires if exposed to fire
- H2s can cause death

The Danger At Sea

When we work at Oil and Gas Industry, we can also find dangers in the sea. Before an emergency occurs, use PPE and Safety Equipment, and have the ability to perform Emergency Procedures!

Ways to handle some emergencies that occur at sea:
- Drowning person: Throw a flotation device on the drowning person, stop the boat, and lift the person onto the boat
- Fire on the ship: Extinguish the fire using a fire extinguisher or escape from the ship using a lifeboat
- Water entering the ship due to a leak: Move all crew and passengers to a higher place on the ship, remove the water from the ship using a pump, and plug the leak or abandon the ship using a raft
- If another disturbance on board threatens the ship and crew: Make an emergency call using the radio

Safety Awareness And Procedures

To deal with and handle all of the dangers, all companies in the Oil and Gas Industry must:
- Have Safety Awareness of the potential dangers that will attack our body, mind, and life
- Use appropriate Safety Procedures so that the lives of everyone, employees, and clients can be protected

When we have Safety Awareness, we will take several necessary actions:
- Know about Safety Regulations and Safety Procedures
- Conduct proper Safety Procedures
- Protect our health
- Create a positive environment in all places
- Provide information to others about potential dangers that we know about that may occur
- Identify risks: Damaged cables, slippery surfaces and others
- Prevent accidents and injuries
- Take precautions: Use PPE, save ourselves and others
- Avoid danger: Dangers that occur due to sunlight, short circuits, and others
- Reduce risks: Extinguishing fires and others

Stay alert! Avoid distractions and dangers! Focus on saving ourselves! Create a safer environment for ourselves and others!
