To operate the High Pressure, High Temperature Well (HPHT) safely, the Drilling Personnel, Well Planner & Senior Drill Crew must have some skills to:
- Know the difference between HPHT Wells & Conventional Wells
- Collaborate & communicate with the team to optimize performance & ensure safe operation
- Select rig
- Select equipment that can optimize & control well performance
- Control wells in the HPHT environment
- Predict & detect pressure
- Detect kicks
- Predict the cause of kicks
- Minimize effects
- Monitor gas while drilling
- Handle underground flow
- Select drilling fluids
- Test HPHT
They must also have knowledge of:
- Definition of HPHT Wells
- Important requirements of rigs & drilling equipment
- Operating Procedures
- Drilling methods, volumetrics & others
- Temperature & pressure on drilling fluid density
- Formation pressure & fracture pressure in HPHT Wells
- Casing in HPHT Wells
- Impact of temperature on formulation
- HPHT conditions under the hole
- Drilling trends & reactions to trend changes
Take the right training so you can work in HPHT safely :-)
