Incident Commander

The Incident Commanders must be able to take appropriate action when incidents & emergencies occur. They must have the ability to:

- Create & deliver a solid framework

- Know about various incidents & emergencies (Type A – major emergencies that are easy to control if managed properly, Type B – major emergencies that can escalate if not controlled, Type C – major uncontrollable emergencies leading to #evacuation)

- Plan & prepare procedures & actions to handle incidents & emergencies

- Ensure that the team is always on #standby to handle incidents & emergencies

- Monitor & control resources

- Manage & control teams, circumstances & situations

- Delegate authority effectively

- Give command through the Incident Post or a predetermined place

- Give instructions to the team

- Provide information to appropriate agencies through the #Incident Management Team

- Review & manage available information in an #emergency situation in a timely manner

- Prevent incidents & emergencies

- Take action to handle the incidents & emergencies

- Respond to the impact of incidents & emergencies by finding out about the causes, locations & more

- Recognize & deal with #stress

- Evaluate progress

- Inform changes in plans & priorities
