Scaffolding, Emergency, And Safety Procedures

Safety: Scaffolding, Emergency, And Safety Procedures

In Construction, Scaffolding refers to a temporary structure used to support workers & materials during the construction, repair, or cleaning of buildings & other structures.

Scaffolding emergencies occur when:
- Scaffolding collapses due to improper built
- Scaffolding overloading
- Workers fall from a height
- Equipment falls
- Bad weather: Strong winds, rain, storms & others

Some Safety Procedures to be done when using Scaffolding:
- Make sure the Scaffolding is built by competent personnel who follow safety standards
- Make sure the Scaffolding can be used safely
- Workers using Scaffolding must be trained first so that they can use the Scaffolding safely, work properly, maintain safety & handle emergencies
- Workers using Scaffolding must know that there is always a danger when using Scaffolding
- Scaffolding must be checked & maintained regularly to ensure that the Scaffolding remains safe to use
- Use the right equipment: Guardrails, fall arrest devices, safety belts & more
- Use the right load capacity
- Secure the Scaffolding from wind or other environmental factors
- Secure tools & materials when not in use
- Stop work on the Scaffolding if bad weather occurs
- Have Safety Procedures that are tailored to the Scaffolding
- The Scaffolding used must be following applicable regulations
- If an emergency occurs: Provide first aid immediately & contact emergency services if necessary for rescue operations & medical assistance

Fire Safety Awareness is needed to protect everyone & every place: you, your co-workers, your family, your home, your office, your building & more!

Safety is Number 1!

Some things to do to prevent & handle fires:

Before a fire occurs:
- Don't smoke!!!
- Plan special actions for Seniors & People with Disabilities who may require special assistance to save themselves
- Ensure all electrical equipment is used properly, not overloaded & in good condition
- Do not leave machines running
- Turn off machines when leaving the room
- Unplug electrical cables when not in use
- Keep an eye on the kitchen at all times
- Keep flammable items away from heat sources
- Install smoke alarms & fire safety equipment in every room
- Know the fire exits in every place & room
- Know the place to gather after the evacuation process
- Train yourself, co-workers & family to extinguish fires

If a fire occurs:
- Avoid all hot objects & areas
- Put out the fire if you can use a Fire Extinguisher & extinguish the fire
- If the fire burns your clothes, drop your body & roll so the fire can be extinguished
- Evacuate immediately
- Do not enter the burning area until the Fire Team says the area is safe

The Function Of Drones For Firefighting Team

When a fire occurs, Drones can be used by Firefighter Teams to:

- Reach difficult & dangerous areas
- Provide live fire information from the fire location (hotspots & escape routes), so the team can assess the situation from a safe distance
- Detect hazardous objects, heat signatures & hidden locations inside buildings
- Create detailed maps of the fire area
- Detect fire developments
- Extinguish fires by carrying small payloads of water
- Deliver Fire Extinguishers
- Find victims in need of help in smoke-filled areas & dangerous areas
- Guide the team to locations in need of help
- Monitor places where fires may reignite
- Observe damage
- Assist communication & coordination between team members & between teams
- Protect the team from hazardous environments

Drones are the "Eyes & Muscles" of Firefighters!

H2S

If you work in the Oil & Gas Industry & other industries that have low-lying areas & confined spaces, get ready to meet the most flammable & toxic gas called Hydrogen Sulfide or H2S!

H2S can disturb your work, make you feel sick & kill you!

H2S can cause:
- Irritation of eyes, nose & throat
- Cough, dizziness & nausea
- Severe respiratory problems & loss of coordination
- Loss of sense of smell so that H2S cannot be detected
- Loss of consciousness, respiratory failure & death
- Fire & explosion
- Damage to metal & iron
- Environmental damage

Equipment that needs to be used:
- H2S detector
- Adequate ventilation
- PPE

Knowledge: OEL (Occupational Exposure Limit) & WEL (Workplace Exposure Limit) are terms used to determine the maximum limit / size of substances, including H2S, that are permitted in the workplace to protect the health of workers.

You need to be aware of the hazards & risks associated with H2S. The most important thing is that you must know how to react to H2S!

Get the right knowledge & skills, so emergencies can be avoided & handled properly!
